Tonto Verde and Rio Verde are exceptionally beautiful communities to the north of Scottsdale and Fountain Hills, accessible by either route. Known as “The Verdes” they are nestled northeast of the McDowell Mountains. The McDowell Regional Park forms the west boundary, to the south is the McDowell Indian Community and the east and north adjoin the 2.9 million acre Tonto National Forest. This is an outdoorsman or woman’s retirement dream. Hiking trails abound, horse stables are numerous and the views are of mountains and forests. These master planned adult communities offer a wide range of custom designed homes and lot sizes in a magnificent setting, with a lifestyle as unique as their setting. Tonto Verde’s 18 hole putting course and the course itself are extraordinary. The third community of “The Verdes” was to be Vista Verde. In its’ early development during the real estate turn-down, it was sold. The golf course was renamed Tegavah which is the Yavapai word for “Gathering Place” and was then sold a second time to Shea Builders. The Shea Active Adult Community trademark is their “Trilogy” communities. Be on the lookout in 2015 and 2016 for Trilogy at Tegavah !
